ALOHA QUEST WORLDWIDE EDUCAST
HONOLULU -- On Sunday December 19, historic `Iolani Palace on O`ahu is the backdrop for an unprecedented learning event for the peoples of Hawai`i. Aloha First, a common-ground organization encouraging the reconciliation
of diverse Hawaiian issues in the Spirit of Aloha, hosts AlohaQuest, a six-hour all-island 'live educast' to be broadcast simultaneously over the Internet at http://www.AlohaQuest.Com and on KFVE-TV-Channel 5, from 4PM to 10PM HST.
This groundbreaking program features emcees Ed Kaahea and Iaukea Bright, local Hawaiian entertainers, and prominent figures in the Hawaiian sovereignty initiative hosting a dynamic forum on the history and future of Hawaiian self-governance. Aloha First calls it "an antidote to indifference".
"The Hawaiian people hold diverse opinions and positions on many unresolved issues" says Aloha First, adding that "Kanaka Hawai`i Maoli also have much in common and share unified values and objectives." Aloha First believes that "in order to achieve equitable solutions to economic and social concerns, we must remain steadfast in this common ground and build on consensus." This educast is a powerful step towards that goal.
Each hour of the live broadcast explores an important period in Hawaiian history and offers visions for Hawai'i's future. Kehau Filimoe`atu and Ian Chan Hodges discuss the Native Hawaiian owned and controlled bank, which is currently in organization. A tax-free economy and international and offshore banking will be covered. Also featured: a discussion of the role of the Ali`i Trusts under an independent nation.
