January 24, 1895, while in prison, Queen Liliëuokalani was forced to sign a document abdicating the Hawaiian Throne
- To demand the Queen to abdicate the Throne, after she was arrested, is an admittance that the Republic did not possess any legal authority to arrest the Queen
- ìNo act of the Monarch shall have any effect unless it be counter-signed by a Minister, who by that signature makes himself responsibleî (Article 42 of the Hawaiian Constitution)
- Therefore, the so-called Republic of Hawaii did not gain any legal authority from the Queen
